Afternoontease Cafe review

NEWS UPDATE: AFTER 4 SUCCESSFUL YEARS, AFTERNOON WILL BE CLOSING LATER THIS MONTH- OCTOBER 2017

Heavenly cakes and all day Brunch – Yesterday saw the long-awaited opening of Afternoontease Cafe in King Street.  Jo announced the news a few months ago, that she was going to open her ‘dream cafe’ in Kings Street.

Jo has been busy planning and working towards the opening of her own cafe for 7 years and started blogging her baking adventures a few years ago to share recipes and cafe, restaurant and supper club experiences and recommendations. She has been selling her cakes at local cafes, a boutique hotel and at the Folk Museum in their coffee shop on Saturday afternoons.

We popped in with our tour yesterday. The verdict was unanimous; the coffee and the cakes were delicious and my espresso gave me that kick I needed. Perfect! We had her lovely light and nutty Carrot cake, her famed Guinness cake and to top off up her flapjacks, which are filled with a layer of apple and figs. Really nice.
