Cambridge Festival Of Ideas

The Festival of Ideas hits town again – The festival of ideas will be held this year from 23 October – 3 November 2013 and the theme is ‘Frontiers’. The festival attracts a huge number of visitors every year. The festival of ideas is an annual celebration of the arts, humanities and social sciences and consists of a number of talks, hands-on activities, film screenings, exhibitions and other creative programmes.

The last festival in 2012  was organised around the theme of ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ and saw over 14,000 visitors. This year they are expecting even a larger number. The forecast is around 18,000. If you’re interested in attending events, it is important to book early. They now have a handy app too so you can book on the go or from your sofa.

The Cambridge Festival of ideas app is now available for Android and iPhone. Search, book and organise your events, access videos and competitions, and be the first to hear Festival news. The Festival of Ideas app contains all the links you need to book events via the “More Details & Booking” button. Other features include a personal Festival planner with reminder options and maps to help plan your perfect Festival. Please note, we will only announce important changes via the “Push Notifications” function, you can (deactivate or) activate this in your phone’s notification settings.

Events range from hands-on craft activities in the University Museums over the half-term holiday, thought-provoking panel discussions for adults with visiting academics, high profile talks by celebrities, film screenings and exhibitions. There are events on offer to help people of all ages to explore a huge range of topics within the arts, humanities and social sciences.
