23 Mar Culture Finder Cambridge
We, at the Cambridge Food Tour, have a thing about going off the beaten track. We love to share the hidden gems of Cambridge. Of course, we focus on the foodie side, but we make sure, that we always take the most interesting walking route. This takes us often to area’s very few tourists get to see and sometimes even unknown to locals.
Now Cambridge has a kind of ‘local gem’ finder. This amazing app shows you the best Cambridge has on offer.
About the app
CultureFinder is intended to help visitors to Cambridge plan their own cultural tour. The central idea has been to focus on things (which might be museum objects, artworks or art events) rather than just venues or places, and build in some chance discoveries along the way. CultureFinder has been developed with the help of the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts.
The project is a collaboration between the University of Cambridge Museums and a number of partners. The mechanism for bringing the data together has been handled by Knowledge Integration, with the user interface developed by the design company Gooii, and a way of creating links between objects developed by the Cambridge Company Deep Visuals. The Collections Trust have advised on the project and the research strand has been managed by CRASSH at the University of Cambridge.
The CultureFinder is not only the perfect tour before and after one of our walking food tours but an incentive for locals to explore our stunning town too!
