01 Sep Foodie Christmas Inspiration in Cambridge
With the sun out at the moment, it is hard to believe that Christmas will be upon us soon. It sounds a bit early, but I have started planning the food I will be serving over the Christmas time already. I like to celebrate get-togethers and plan well ahead. It is part of the excitement!
Are you looking for foodie inspiration for the Christmas period? Make sure you block off the weekend of 1 December as it is all happening in Cambridge that weekend! Start planning, here are the events you want to go for.
SPECIAL EDITION FOOD WALKING TOUR ON 1 DECEMBER
Every year on the first Saturday of December, the most cosmopolitan street of Cambridge, Mill Road, is closed off to traffic. The street is lined with food stalls during the Mill Road Winter Fair, you can watch parades and shop on the Christmas market for fresh produce for Christmas. We have spiced up our Taste Cambridge Food Walking Tour and included this event on our 4-hour Special edition Food Tour – The Mill Road Winter Fair Food Tour that day.
PORTS AND FORTIFIED WINE FAIR ON 1 DECEMBER
Port is undoubtedly the most famous of the fortified wines. Styles can vary massively from ruby ports through to Late Bottle Vintage and Vintage Ports.
But there are plenty of other fortified wines out there too try.
Sherry has developed something of a bad reputation over the years but there are some incredible ones out there. From the super dry and salty Manzanillas through to the rich and sweet PX style.
There will also be a range of Madiera and Marsalas to try too.
ELY SPIRITS AND WINE FESTIVAL ON 2 DECEMBER
Following on from our hugely successful (even if we do say it ourselves!) Wine Festival in May, Ely Wine Events are proud to present our Ely Craft Spirits and Wine Festival.
