New Chocolate Trends For Chocolate

Guess what I just had? – One of the most inspiring foodies in Cambridge for me is our top chocolatier, Isabelle Chapelle. I love listening to her interesting stories about chocolate. If you listen to her, you might think she has been in this business her whole life. Nothing is truer. Her background is actually fashioned and this shows in the way she wants the chocolate to look and taste. She is always on the lookout for new trends and just like I like to test taste boundaries.

On my food walking tours, I like to introduce you to new flavours and taste combinations you wouldn’t have thought off. The idea is to broaden your mind and that you don’t always have to follow the ‘set’ path. I know it is a bit cliché, but think outside the box!

A few months ago, Isabelle told me about the newest trend in chocolate, but you’ll have read on to find out. I was quite stunned actually. Really? Would that work? Inspired by all the new chocolate flavours my taste buds had been introduced to by Isabelle, I decided to hunt down some really interesting chocolate in Brugge the other day. Known as one of the trendsetters in Brugge, the Chocolate line claimed to sell chocolate pralines with lobster. I had to taste that. This was beyond my belief…

With great expectation, I found the shop. Full of excitement I entered and was actually disappointed by the look of the shop. Dark and not very appealing. At the back end, there was a kitchen where they were working on huge bunnies. Quite clearly a big thing here, but let me be boring. I rather stick to the smaller gems, which you can just pop into your mouth…. Moment of truth; They don’t sell chocolate with lobster, but they do sell chocolate with oysters on special days and you have to eat them within 24 hours. Not sure about the oyster bit. I love oysters, but in my chocolate? I think lobster and chocolate is more refined. However, I did buy some chocolates with dope.. Dopy me. I only bought one and my partner got away with it. They claimed it was the legal one….

So what caught my eye today? Marshmallow… Right, that isn’t chocolate I agree. Little teddy bears of marshmallow covered with chocolates. Apparently, it is addictive. I agree, it is addictive, but that isn’t what I had.

Ok here’s it is Isabelle’s newest taste trend….. Have some of this…

and of this….

The result is…

Chocolate with liquorish is one of the new chocolate trends for chocolate. It is in one word – Awesome! I know it sounds weird, but it is really delicious. At the moment Chocolat Chocolat only sells the truffles, but they are working hard on their famous sheet chocolate too.
