Chocolat Chocolat – Chocolate Paradise In Cambridge

Paradise is calling – Since the start of the Cambridge Food Tour, we have been building strong contacts with our fellow foodies, who are included on our Best of British and Cambridge Food tour. All of the places we visit are independent retailers, who tend to run their businesses from small premises. We have carefully selected our fellow foodies as we are keen to showcase the best of Cambridge and British food. This does mean that they can become very busy at certain times of the day.

One of them is Chocolat Chocolat, which opened in 2009. There hardly is a quiet moment in this top chocolate shop in Cambridge. When we agreed to work together, we weren’t sure if it would work out as this lovely shop is filled with delicious chocolates and being very popular is very busy with customers anxious to purchase their wares.  After a 3 months trial period (we don’t operate the tour in December) we are very pleased to announce, that Chocolat Chocolat will be our official Chocolate partner for all our tours and events.

Chocolate making

Chocolat Chocolat is a real chocolate paradise. Although I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, I have chocolate (70%) with my cup of Italian coffee every morning.  I prefer thin chocolate and before Chocolat Chocolat opened, my favourite chocolate was Prestat.

Why is Chocolat Chocolat so special?

Chocolat Chocolat and its range of luxury chocolates are steeped in the traditions of the independent chocolatier. Their chocolate is not only delicious, but it’s stunning too or should I say ‘catwalk proof’?

Their chocolatier Isabelle learnt her craft in Paris and Belgium, but she scours the world for exciting chocolates and flavours, always looking for tastes that excite the palette. Looking at the stunning collection of chocolates, it surely doesn’t come as a surprise that Isabelle hails from a Fashion background. She believes that chocolate should look as good as it tastes and she ensures that their range of gifts look as good as they taste and are a perfect gift.

On most days you can look through the shop window and see one of their chocolatiers making their famous sheet chocolate right in front of your eyes. These handmade sheets of chocolate are made with the finest Belgian chocolate in a unique French style brought from France by their chocolatier Isabelle, not seen anywhere else the wavy sheets of chocolate are sprinkled with ingredients from across the world. The French Sea Salt is absolutely our favourite. If it isn’t the fantastic display of making chocolate, the lovely smell of the sweet hot chocolate draws people into this chocolate paradise during the cold days of the year. Inside the smell of chocolate will immediately take you back to the traditional chocolate shops of years gone by, but brought up to date.

Other chocolates are selected from small chocolatiers in France and Belgium, many of which are made just for them;  their range of confectionary includes Nougat, Chocolate Spreads, Cocoa and lots more.

I love popping into Chocolat Chocolat as whenever they are making chocolate they always make sure they have samples available for their customer to taste; it’s a little thank you for taking the effort to visit their shop. If these aren’t enough reasons to head off to Chocolat Chocolat, we’ll give you another one! In moderation chocolate (70%) gives you an incredible boost and is a heart-healthy choice.
