10 Feb The Mill Road Feast
A Food Feast Is Hitting Mill Road
We’re very excited, that we can finally share with you the line up of our newest food feast in Cambridge, held for the first time on Sunday 2nd March Gwydir Street Car Park from 10.00-3.00pm. Mill Road is in my opinion the most vibrant and cosmopolitan street in Cambridge or as I like to refer to it; “our Brick lane”. Although over the years Mill Road has been an area, where locals like to hang out, it is now becoming a destination in itself. Mill Road is very easy to get to too as it’s only 10 minutes walk from the historic centre of Cambridge.
Many people flock here every year to eat their way through Mill Road during their Winter fair, held on the fist Saturday of December. During this amazing food festival, Mill Road is closed off for the day. Local restaurants, shops and even residents sell their food in front of their shop or house. This fair is the biggest food fair in Cambridge and is expanding every year. Last year their newest event was a demo at the Cambridge Kitchens and I’m sure there will be something new added this year again. We don’t run any food tours that day as it is too busy to show people the foodie side of Cambridge and I would hate to miss this fantastic event myself.
The Mill Road Feast was in the pipe line for quite sometime and Ceri and her team have been working very hard getting this feast of the ground for many months. The Mill Road Feast will take place every 3 months and will have a different theme to it each time. The first event is inspired by London’s street feasts, or the Hope Street Yard event of last year’s Eat Cambridge – plenty of hot food for you to eat at Mill Road Feast, plus music and a social seating area to meet up with friends. You will also be able to find a range of local produce including cheese and charcuterie products, jams, relishes and cakes. And while you’re in the area, why not check out the full range of Mill Road’s independent shops and cafes.
