09 Sep Vegan burgers from the Doppleganger burger review
The other day I spotted an interesting pop-up supper club held in Cambridge. The Doppleganger Burger claimed to be the best Vegan burger. Not just in Cambridge! So, that had to be checked out. I don’t follow a Vegan diet myself, but often when I look at what is on my plate, it is quite often Vegan. I don’t give too much thought to this though. I am a foodie and love food. My diet is a plant based one. Not because of the latest trends, I have been brought up with a lot of fresh vegetables. So 10 a day for me is really no chore. The animal protein has to be sustainably sourced. I want to know where it comes from. Quite difficult with fish I have to admit, but if you choose your butcher carefully you know where it comes from.
Alfy, the mastermind behind this new venture, is a designer by day and in the evening a chef. Not just a hobby, he is a qualified chef. Six months ago, he decided to take up the challenge to go Vegan. As a trained chef, he wanted to find out how difficult it is. And the result is there! The Doppleganger burger!
So what is his claim?
I just saw my Doppleganger the other day.
It’s like a burger but it’s a Doppleganger.
More adventurous combinations.
Tastier than a burger without the feeling of lethargy after.
Marinated soy patties which bring a texture and taste like no other.
Vegan burgers not as you know it.
That’s why it’s Doppleganger.
And what did we think? Well, you could fool a carnivore! The burger is not made of beans so no soggy slab in your bun, but it is made of soy.
Alfy has a few more pop-up’s of The Doppleganger Burger in Cambridge and is then heading off to Shoreditch in London.
Keep an eye out for him, Alfy is in for a winner!
